Here you will find pieces that Joey has created over the years that didn't make it into the podcast, but are worth a listen to if you find the description interesting.

Family Drama

In November, 2015 I created this piece for a journalism class. It's about my mother's experience being on the 20th story of a San Francisco office building during the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.

Graduation Not Education

This is a piece I did for my Narrative Journalism class in 2016. I worked on it over the course of several months looking into how the Washoe County School District was more concerned about graduation numbers than they were about the quality of education that their kids were getting. This is just the short audio piece and interview with former Washoe County teacher Chris English. It was accompanied by a longer written piece that can be found here https://medium.com/@joeylovato/graduation-not-education-19c759039c60

Robyn Feinberg is my co-host in this story, and helped report the story.

Story Reflection

This is a short reflection on the story above, that was an assignment after the piece was turned in. It might be a tad dramatic, but it's a fun listen.

Reconstructed Narrative

This is a reconstructed narrative that was also done for my narrative class. It's about Alex Blumberg, founder of Gimlet Media and his journey in creating the company.
